EXOTIKA #2
2025
Poster for the 2nd edition of EXOTIKA (@exotika.official) at Lux Frágil.
“This work was created through a hands-on exploration of ice as both a material and a metaphor. I manually sculpted and manipulated blocks of ice, shaping them into forms that carry a sense of delicacy and impermanence. By adding a textile texture and photographing the piece, I captured the surface details, translucency, and ethereal qualities that have always fascinated me. Ice is a material that refuses permanence — it melts, shifts, and transforms no matter how much we try to hold onto it. Its fragility and its inevitability are what continually draw me to it.
The final artwork was developed through digital editing, where I combined the photographed textures with metallic, silver typography that complements the cold, sculptural aesthetic. The contrast between the ephemeral softness of ice and the rough, industrial feel of metal is central to the visual identity of the piece.
These themes of transformation, fragility, and contrast resonate deeply with the spirit of EXOTIKA, a queer night event for which this poster was created. The work reflects ideas of embracing change, celebrating differences, and acknowledging the coexistence of vulnerability and strength. It is a visual metaphor for queer existence itself — constantly evolving, beautifully diverse, and resilient.” — Yuliya Liberda
